Playing it Straight with Antonia Bär

The Voice of Reason or Straight Man is the sensible character who points out absurdities and represents “real world logic”. They are the comedian of the scene who frames the Game and signals to the audience what is funny.
In this workshop, we’ll explore how to have the most fun when playing a Voice of Reason character. We’ll clear up some misconceptions about the part, and look at a number of different ways to play it straight. We’ll focus on using emotions and specific points of view to help shape the comedic idea of a scene and move away from playing generic Straight Men that only get in the way of the absurd.

Improv experience required (Must have completed at least Level 1 – Intro to Improv at The CCB Training School or equivalent).
