Johnna Scrabis & Sean Casey: Crazy World, Grounded Scenes

Learn how to play at the top of your intelligence, even in the most bizarre worlds. This workshop focuses on commitment to character and world in genre scenes. We’ll explore scenes set in alternate universes and within specific genres (horror, sci-fi, time-travel) all while staying grounded and playing it real.
Experience required: Intermediate
Sean Casey is an actor and writer based in Brooklyn, New York. He improvises with his team GOAT at the Upright Citizens Brigade theater each and every Saturday night. He’s been on Orange is the New Black (Netflix), The President Show (Comedy Central), and hundreds of home videos (parents’ VHS). Sean is also an improv teacher at UCB and has directed several sketch shows in New York.
Johnna Scrabis is a Brooklyn-based comedian, Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) Theatre teacher, and UCB weekend team performer on GOAT. She also improvises on the weekly show Teacher Feature. In addition to performing, Johnna has taught and developed improv workshops for universities, corporations like Huffington Post and J.P. Morgan, and improv theaters around the world. She also teaches at The Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute, the home of Method Acting. When she’s not improvising, Johnna is writing (you can find some of her work on CollegeHumor), working on a production with her theater company Hot Metal Arts, or exploring haunted places.
